In the fabrication of the hybrid composite with functionalized cellulose whisker as filler, the composite showed enhancement in all of the desired surface and water absorption properties such as surface wettability, water uptake, swelling ratio and ion exchange capacity which was achieved by the addition of higher loading of filler from 5% to 15% compared to previous studies of only smaller amount of 3 to 8% of filler added into the polymer matrix. The enhancement of the performance of the polymer composite could be attained by higher filler loading. The present utility model described a functionalized cellulose whiskers as fillers are effective additives that could further improve the electrochemical capacity of polymers.
